MANSFIELD STREET

The restoration and refurbishment of this Robert Adam built, Grade II Listed building was largely awarded to LTS due to our successful experiences with Listed buildings, such as our contract on St James Square. The property, once lived in and modified by Sir Edwin Lutyens, suffered badly after an uncompassionate refurbishment inherited by our client on acquiring the building.

A number of the bathrooms had been overloaded with heavy stone and left unsupported. Consequently, the Robert Adam ceilings below were badly affected and in need of restoration. LTS were awarded the contract to rectify the existing problems and to undertake a complete refurbishment of the 15,000 sq ft property, including the vaulted mews.

In addition to these reparatory and conservation works, LTS undertook the complete refurbishment and fit out of the interior. These works included an upgrade of the existing mechanical and electrical installations. And our design co-ordination team assisted in the development of both the bespoke bathrooms and specialist joinery items.

Significant structural alterations were undertaken in the vaulted mews property to the rear of the main house. The existing staircase was removed and a new groin arch was built to match the existing structures in place. Underpinning to both the walls and columns was required to facilitate the excavation works for the bespoke pool. Extensive restoration of the existing arches took place which combined with the limestone paving throughout, making for a calm and intimate spa environment which now includes a sauna and steam room.
