Eaton Square

Eaton Square was designed and built by Messrs. Cubitt in 1827. It was named after Eaton Hall, in Cheshire, the principal seat of the Duke of Westminster. It occupies an oblong piece of ground, and the centre is divided by roadways into six separate enclosures.

LTS were commissioned to create one sumptuous private residence from two apartments delivering a quad lateral 3rd Floor 6,000 Sq Ft development.

Being within the Grosvenor estate and on the 3rd Floor, LTS had many restrictions and relationships with neighbours to maintain. Given these restraints a 3rd Floor gantry was the only means of access to the building and the timing and precise coordination of materials was essential. LTS were required to dispose of a fire escape and a 9 inch reinforced concrete safe with a quarter inch steel plate liner.

This scheme benefitted enormously from the very ornate and opulent fibrous plaster design by Nicky Haslam which is featured in detail on the front cover of this brochure. The package included the reinstatement of all the ceilings and original designs were in fact hand drawn. The LTS fibrous plaster team translated these into transferable technical drawings from which a clay mould could be made. As with many LTS schemes this apartment now enjoys comfort cooling throughout. Again down to LTS design, we challenge any viewer to demonstrate the location of the AC vents in the drawing room. Other features of interest include a phosphate bronze kitchen and Louis Vuitton wardrobes.
